Combi vs system vs heat-only
Combis suit small-to-mid homes with a single main bathroom and modest simultaneous demand. System boilers with an unvented cylinder are the right answer for larger homes and two-bathroom lifestyles. Heat-only (regular) boilers make sense when tanks and cylinders are already correctly sized and in good condition and you want minimum disruption.
Why we specialise in Vaillant
Vaillant's ecoTEC range is well-supported in the UK, parts are readily available, and — because one of our engineers is a Vaillant approved installer — you qualify for extended warranty terms on parts like the magnetic filter (an additional 2 years, on qualifying components) that only approved installers can offer. We fit other quality manufacturers too where they're the right fit.
System protection: flush, filter, inhibitor
Every install starts with a decision on system cleanliness. Where the existing system is loaded with sludge, a power flush is quoted separately. On cleaner systems, a chemical clean plus a magnetic filter and fresh inhibitor is enough. Either way — no protection, no warranty, no exceptions.
Controls and TRVs
Modern condensing boilers only hit efficiency figures with sensible controls. We fit programmable thermostats, add or replace TRVs where zoning makes sense, and can integrate smart controls (Vaillant vSMART, Nest, Hive) with correct wiring — not a bodged neutral tap-off.
